Kaiser Permanente last weekend held a grand opening event for its new medical office building in Murrieta days after holding a private ribbon cutting for the facility.

“The needs of our community are at the heart of everything we do, and the opening of the new Kaiser Permanente medical office building dedicated to ambulatory, surgery, procedure, and infusion services in Murrieta is a testament to our commitment to the health of our residents,” Murrieta Mayor Lisa DeForest said in a statement. “We are proud to welcome this state-of-the-art facility to our community. We look forward to all the lives that will be positively impacted, and the jobs created for our residents for years to come.”

Saturday’s event featured free health screenings from Kaiser Permanente’s mobile health vehicle, a tour of the new facility and family-friendly entertainment including snack stations, a DJ, face painting, crafts, games and a photo booth.

The new medical office building will provide outpatient surgery services, diagnostic imaging, diagnostic and preventative procedures and oncology infusion services. It is the second of two medical office buildings to open on the corner of Antelope and Keller roads.

“One of the most beautiful areas in this new 88,900 square-foot building is the infusion center on the first floor where chemotherapy is administered,” Dr. Enrico Pietrantonio, physician in charge, said in a video about the facility. “There are 14 bays, two private rooms and 12 bays with recliners that are equipped with massage and heat for patient comfort. The exterior wall in this area is made almost entirely of windows to allow sunlight to shine through with metal art panels in the surrounding gardens for privacy.”

Pietrantonio said the facility is the first Kaiser Permanente location in South Riverside County to offer diagnostic mammography, and Sammy Totah, senior vice president and area manager for the Kaiser Foundation Health Plan and Hospitals, said it’s the first ambulatory surgery center in the Riverside market.

“Today, we celebrate not only the opening of a new medical office building but also a new chapter in our community,” Patrick Ellis, president and CEO of the Murrieta/Wildomar Chamber of Commerce, said. “This facility is a vital resource to our community and will help provide much-needed access to the latest technologies and services previously unavailable to us.”

Along with the new medical office building in Murrieta, work is continuing on the tower expansion at Kaiser Permanente Riverside Medical Center, the expansion at Kaiser Permanente Moreno Valley Medical Center, and at the new medical office building in Wildomar, which just recently broke ground.

“This is really exciting for us to be able to expand in the market as the community expands,” Totah said. “And we want to grow with it.”
